TBT at Pete's Candy Store

just a note that Till by Turning played a wonderful show last night at Pete's Candy Store. it came together at the last minute, and i failed to get it up here in time, but we had fun!

the program included 3 of Clara Latham's songs written especially for TBT + some of my music--Underworld (Dancing) for tuba and wurli, with the master Dan Peck contributing some unbelievably low tones, and three movements of Messiaen-inspired quartet.

thanks Pete's and Baby Copperhead and Jason from the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow!

Till by Turning at the STONE

FRIDAY DEC 11 - 8 pm
@ the Stone
thestonenyc.com

As part of the exciting December calendar of music co-curated by Sam Kulik and David Garland, Till by Turning will premiere new music by Brooklyn composers Clara Latham and Katherine Young.

Each composer has written a short cycle of pieces for this ensemble’s unique instrumentation (violin, viola, bassoon, piano & voice): Latham’s songful experiments carve a liminal space between the strange and the familiar in which lyrical and timbral elements find delicate co-existence. Young presents a multi-movement meditation on Quartet for the End of Time, exploring Messiaen’s musical materials and time-suspending techniques, while grafting material and mundane apocalyptic suggestions onto and across his religious consciousness.

The cycles both include music for voice and ensemble. Till by Turning’s Emily Manzo will sing, and Latham will join the ensemble for her pieces.
